Several new eateries are making their way to North Fresno.
They’ll be located in the Universal Park shopping center at Blackstone and El Paso Avenues.
The center is already home to Lowe’s and Chuck E Cheese.
Two restaurants will soon replace ones that are currently vacant and a third restaurant just opened its doors last week.
Out with the old, in with the new, a saying that could not be more true for The Chicken Shack.
“People kept asking us to come to North Fresno,” said owner, Damon Miller. “We kept looking for locations. This one came about.”
The locally owned spot fills a two year vacancy. Griddle Me This was once here among other tenants.
On Tuesday, the newest customers eating and enjoying their specialty: chicken fingers and wings with over 30 sauces.
“We thought it was great,” said customer, Matlynn Henry. “The chicken was really good and we’d definitely come back.”
The Chicken Shack opened its doors on Friday.
“We just turned the light on and started serving customers,” Miller said.
Over the weekend, they posted on social media too, to help spread the word.
Besides wings, you can also grab a drink. The business is set to get its beer and wine license within the next couple of weeks.
“Hope it’s going to do well,” Miller said.
“This is a great location. It’s right across from the mall and Nordstrom and Ulta is over there,” Henry added.
But that’s not all for Universal Park.
Hooter’s restaurant was evicted from the shopping center back in April and now reports have surfaced it will soon be transformed into seafood restaurant, Shell Shock.
And not far away, Mod Pizza will replace the empty, Baja Fresh. The pizza company confirms with us the target open date is early November of this year.
Though a lot of transformation, customers are looking forward to the much anticipated changes ahead.
“I think it’s a great place,” Henry said. “People are definitely going to come and flood this place.”
We reached out to the shopping center for comment but we were unable to get an interview.
