A new exhibit at the Fresno Art Museum is literally ‘big’. It’s a collection of oversized artworks from the museum’s permanent collection.
A reception for the exhibit was held tonight. The collection was established in the early 1960’s and the works are from the storage vaults. They’ve never been grouped together as an exhibition.
It includes large-format works by nationally and internationally renowned artists.
“I don’t think a lot of people realize we have five vaults of permanent collection in this building. We don’t have a basement so these are huge vaults at the back of our building and we have over 3,600 pieces that we hold in trust for Fresno,” said Chief Curator Michelle Pracy.
Three other new exhibitions also opened at the Fresno Art Museum. They’ll be on display through June.
