The Merced County Sheriff’s Posse is gearing up for a big trip to the nation’s capitol!
The group was chosen to ride in the parade at the Presidential Inauguration on January 20th. The 15 members, including Sheriff Vern Warnke, and their horses, will be among 8,000 parade participants. The Posse is the only group invited from California.
The trip will cost about $80,000 and the department is paying for it themselves. To help with cost, a fundraiser will be held this Sunday, January 8 at the Merced Elks Lodge from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25.
