Merced CHP K-9 officer makes 30 pound meth bust after return from “vacation”

Merced CHP K-9 Officer “Beny” is back from vacation, and let the bad guys beware. “Beny” returned to work the day before Thanksgiving and already has a huge meth bust to his credit.

Earlier today a CHP Officer stopped a 2011 white Ford Ranger for illegally tinted windows.  While the Officer was talking to the driver he noticed signs of illegal activity.  The stop occurred northbound on SR-99 at Mission Avenue in Merced County.

The K-9 cop was called in to sniff out the scene, and gave a positive alert to the odor of drugs.  The Officer asked the driver for written and verbal consent to search the vehicle, and the driver agreed.

Officers then searched the truck and found 30 pounds of Crystal Meth inside the vehicles spare tire. 

The driver was arrested and later booked into the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Main jail for possession of methamphetamine for sale and transportation of methamphetamine.
