A large pine tree crashed into three homes in Central Fresno Thursday afternoon.
Amisai Meza heard a loud noise and saw part of the tree fell onto her neighbors home. She was home with her brother at the time, she screamed for him and went outside.
“The other half of the tree is up, we didn’t know where it was going to land, if it came down,” Meza said. “We knew it was just a matter of time.”
She called her mom, who was on her way home.
“She’s trying to park in the driveway, I just screamed at her, don’t park there!” Meza said.
Meza said the rest of the tree fell onto the driveway just moments later.
“I feel shocked because I think wow, if I wouldn’t have screamed at my mom, that would be her under that tree.” Meza said.
The Fresno Fire Department responded to the scene on Pine and Barton Avenue. Two of the three homes were damaged.
“They have at least four to five actual rooms destroyed,” Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Tony Escobedo said.
Crews spent Thursday evening removing the tree from the scene.
The Mezas moved in two months ago. Amisai says she is thankful their family was not hurt.
“God used me in a sense to save my mother’s life and for that, I will be eternally grateful,” she said.
No injuries were reported.
