Man Pleads Guilty To Laser Strike Incident

A 35-year-old Clovis man has pleaded guilty to charges filed, in connection to a laser strike incident involving a CHP plane.

According to a statement by the Office of the United States Attorney in California’s Eastern District, Jeremy Scott Danielson tracked and struck CHP’s Air 43 plane with a powerful green laser pointer, for 18 to 20 times.

According to officials, the pilot and tactical flight officer, who were conducting a routine patrol, suffered flash blindness and watery eyes. Danielson was found with the laser pointer in his pants’ pocket, by Clovis Police officers.

According to officials, Danielson, who is scheduled to be sentenced on May 31, faces five years in prison, and a maximum of $250,000 in fine.
