Man charged with DUI after hitting fire hydrant in Southeast Fresno, police say

Fresno police said a suspected DUI driver lost control and hit a fire hydrant in Southeast Fresno.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police said the driver was heading west on Kings Canyon Ave and tried to make a left turn on Backer Ave lost control and ran into a fire hydrant.

All four occupants fled the scene after the crash happened, but were caught a short time later, police say.
