Officers from the Madera Police Department honored the life of fallen Sacramento Police Officer Tara O’Sullivan Thursday.
O’Sullivan was shot and killed on June 19 after she responded to a domestic violence call.
On Thursday four members of Madera Police’s honor guard drove to Roseville for her memorial ceremony, joining thousands of fellow law enforcement agents and civilians.
“The unfortunate things are no matter how hard you train you can’t prepare for everything and there will always be a certain amount of risk associated with everything,” said Madera Police Sgt. Felix Gonzales.
Sgt. Gonzales says the most impactful moment of the ceremony was when O’Sullivan’s family described who she was as a person, with her love of animals and a passion for her career.
“We aren’t just robots, we are human beings with hobbies and love for other things, she loved her profession and stood in the face of danger and paid the ultimate price, unfortunately,” said Sgt. Gonzales.
