Madera police give out gift cards instead of tickets

Madera Police teamed up with Camerena Health on Thursday looking for drivers who are down on their luck.

Faith Drinnon was on her way to an appointment but was pulled over for a broken tail light.

Madera Police Officer J.C. Gaona and Camerena Health Board Chair Seann Garcia handed Drinnon a $100 gift card for Christmas.

Drinnon said she seen videos online of police giving out gift cards during the holiday but never thought she would receive one.

“I’m excited. You know we have two foster kids and two of our own kids so this will be a great for Christmas gifts,” Drinnon said.

Garcia said it was all about spreading Christmas cheer this holiday season.

“They were very appreciative. One they didn’t get a ticket, two some of these people they needed a little extra for Christmas,” he said.
