A Madera County Sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being shot in the leg during a standoff. Officers arrested the suspect.
It started around nine o’clock last night when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at the 28000 block of Avenue 15 ¾. The sheriff’s office says a sergeant arrived and was shot in the leg by the suspect.
The deputy was treated at the scene by EMS and was taken to a hospital. The sheriff’s office says he was treated for a gunshot wound and released. His name is being withheld at this time.
The sheriff’s office says the suspect remained barricaded inside the home. They say shots were fired inside the house. The SWAT team arrested the suspect about six hours later. The incident remains under investigation.
