New files on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy were released to the public Thursday night after decades of secrecy.

Entities within the government wanted President Donald Trump to order the files remain secret — an order only the president can give.

However, Trump ordered the release of thousands of documents while holding some others pending review.

Anyone who wants to access the documents can go to the National Archives website.
