A visitor was killed in Yosemite National Park on Sunday, the National Park Service said.
Around 12:30 p.m., the park visitor was killed on the Mist Trail.
She was identified as Xuan Wang, 56, of Cupertino, California.
Wang was hiking on the trail when she was struck by falling rocks and ice, and she died shortly after, the NPS said.
The Mist Trail is a popular trail from Yosemite Valley to the top of Vernal Fall. It’s closed this time of year due to icy and hazardous conditions.
The NPS said the trail closure is clearly marked and there is a gate on the trail reminding visitors of the closure. Officials said Wang ignored the signs, went around the gate, and the incident happened on the trail leading to Vernal Fall.
