Woman left for dead on the side of the road in Merced County, CHP says

Local News

A woman was struck by a car and left for dead along the side of the road in Merced County on April 13, according to California Highway Patrol.

At around 1:06 p.m., CHP responded to a call of a woman lying face down on the side of Highway 99 near South Avenue in Delhi.

Nicole Stefanie Newbold, 30, of Modesto was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.

Through an investigation, CHP says she was involved in a hit-and-run crash, where a broken passenger side mirror from a 2006-2009 model Honda Civic was found.

The mirror has a black outer casing, and CHP says it is possible the car has damage to the passenger side windshield and/or passenger side pillar.

Anyone with suspect information is asked to contact the Merced CHP office at 209-356-6600.
