VISALIA, California (KSEE/KGPE) – The Visalia Fire Department battled a house fire Sunday that caused more than $80,000 worth of damage.

The fire broke out in the 1600 block of West Grove Avenue around 10 a.m. There were initial reports of a person trapped inside, says battalion chief Tom Van Grouw.

Crews arrived and searched the home. All residents were safely out, he says.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Van Grouw says it seems the fire started in the back patio area.

The fire caused approximately $80,000 in damage to the home, a neighboring garage and a car.

Sixteen firefighters, three engines and two trucks responded to the fire.
