FRESNO COUNTY, California (KSEE/KGPE) – Two young men are dead after a crash in Fresno County Friday night.

At around 6:35 p.m., California Highway Patrol said the driver of an SUV in the area of Highway 168 and Shepard Avenue crashed after taking a turn too fast, flipping the car over several times.

Two men, 20 and 21, were ejected. They were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition but pronounced deceased shortly after.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victims Saturday as Ismael Cortez-Cruz, 20, of Fresno and Daniel Ruiz, 21, of Fresno.

Spokesman Tony Botti said it was unknown who was driving.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this collision, however, CHP says they were not wearing seat belts.
