TULARE COUNTY, California (KSEE/KGPE) – Two children abducted from Tulare County were reunited with their father after officials recovered them from Washington state, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said.

Investigators from the DA’s Bureau of Investigations Child Abduction Unit traveled to Kennewick, Washington September 11 to recover two children taken by their mother, Yuridia Serrano Valdez, against a court order, Spokesman Eric Grant said.

The two children were reunited with their father two days later on September 13.

The father had purchased bus tickets for Valdez and their two children, ages 2 and 3, to travel to Pasco, Washington. The plan was for him to join them later.

However, Valdez changed her mind and told him not to come north.

Help was sought from the DA’s office on September 4 after several unsuccessful attempts to reconnect with his children, Grant said.

Investigators found Valdez and the children with the help of deputies in Kennewick.

Valdez agreed to voluntarily return the children to officials after the court order was explained to her, Grant said.

Both children were safely recovered without incident.
