Twelve-year-old boy dies from ‘accidental’ shooting in Fresno County

A 12-year-old boy died from what deputies are calling an accidental gunshot wound in Fresno County Sunday afternoon, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 12:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of N. Fairfax Ave. in Firebaugh for a report of an accidental shooting.

The boy was found and pronounced deaceased at the scene.

Others were at the home during the incident, and are being interviewed by investigators trying to determine exactly what happened.

At this point, investigators cannot say if it was a self-inflicted wound.

The shooting remains an ongoing investigation.
