Top commander of the 144th Fighter Wing in Fresno relieved of duty

A shake-up in the leadership of the local Air National Guard in Fresno.

Major General Clay Garrison, the top commander of the 144th Fighter Wing California has been relieved of command.

Explained further in an official statement, Brigadier General Gregory F. Jones will assume command immediately.

“(He) has been relieved of his duties as Commander of the California Air National Guard. Brigadier General Gregory F. Jones will assume command of the California Air National Guard effective immediately. The Guard is committed to providing a transparent, respectful and positive command climate for our airmen and I am confident that Jones will be able to lead the organization effectively and with the utmost integrity going forward.”

A guard spokesman tells the LA. Times that the California Military Department lost  “faith, trust and confidence” in his ability to lead the organization.
