The Fresno Yosemite International Airport is fixing their parking problem

Local News

Today the Fresno Yosemite International Airport unveiled an expanded long term parking lot. It’s great news for travelers because this creates hundreds of new parking spaces.

This is part of their Surface Lot Project. One section opened up today which provided an extra 385 spaces. They are still working to open the other section up because it is still undergoing construction.

This project costs 4.3 million dollars and when it is finished it will improve their employee parking, economy parking lot, and their new cell phone waiting area.

KiKi Bradway said she frequently travels out of the Fresno Airport. She said she is excited to hear news of the parking lot expansion.

Very happy that they are building this new space, said Bradway. For years I flew in and out of this airport for work and it was always difficult to find a spot.

Bradway said because the parking lot is always full she opts to get dropped off rather than circle the parking lot waiting for a space to open up.

Fresno has grown so much it took a long time to get where we are at now with the improvements, said Bradway

Curtis Mason said it usually takes him awhile to land a parking spot. However, today was his lucky day.

Actually the parking was really good today. I came at a time where I got to go in the second row, said Mason. Normally I am in the far back like in the third fourth row. But, today was a good day maybe because it was hot.

Because of the numerous expansion projects the price to park your car at the airport will go from 8 dollars up to 12 for long term parking. This will start July 1st

Ian Tell said he won’t mind paying more because the Fresno Airport could use more parking.

There is always a lot of people flying in and flying out, said Tell. There always has to be room for more.

The Surface Lot Project is scheduled to be completed by the middle of July. Then come 2020 the new parking structure will begin to undergo construction.
