State senator Borgeas: Needing a Real ID to buy ammo is in a state of confusion

Local News

On July 1, California will become the first state to conduct background checks on people who buy ammunition. But do you need to show a California Real ID at the point of purchase?

Governor Gavin Newsom says you will, but the State DOJ contradicts the governor’s statement. The Department of Justice says you only need to provide your driver’s license or identification card.

State senator Andreas Borgeas says Sacramento remains in a state of confusion over this.
