A small airplane lost engine power in Los Banos and crashed Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 12:30 p.m., says Ian Gregor, spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pacific Division

He says a Beechcraft BE36 lost engine power and hit an airport perimeter fence while trying to land at Los Banos Municipal Airport.

The pilot, who is from Santa Clara County, was the only person on board and was not injured, Gregor says.

The FAA will investigate the crash, he says.
