Sixth grade class rallies around teacher with stage 4 cancer to give her a ‘year of a lifetime’

Local News

An act of compassion by local students of a sixth grade class in Clovis is looking to give their teacher the “year of a lifetime.”

Mrs. Vargas is a teacher at Bud Rank Elementary School, and she was recently diagnosed with stage four colon cancer.

As she fights the disease, she’s taking a leave of absence to spend time with her husband and one-year-old daughter.

While her students say they will miss her, they want her to have the best year ever, with trips to anywhere she and her family wants to go.

So far, the GoFundMe has raised more than $11,000, exceeding the initial $5,000 goal.
