Several Fresno County grass fires send plumes of smoke into the air, close roads

Fresno firefighters are battling several grass fires along Highway 99 between Fresno and Kingsburg Friday night.

The first fire sparked at 99 and Cedar Avenue around 6 p.m. The second fire was reported about 30 minutes later along the highway and Sierra Avenue.

The Cedar Avenue fire was extinguished a short time after sending plumes of smoke into the air. The second fire shut down nearby roads as firefighters battled the flames.
