Ride of the week: Albert Alvarez’s 1937 Plymouth

Local News

Albert Alvarez has been into cars and cruising for a long time.

“Since I was a youngster. Back in ‘67. I have four ‘bombs.’”

Having four bombs, in this case, is no cause for alarm. A bomb or bomba is a pre-1954 automobile. Known for a round, curvy body-style. They resemble a World War II style bomb.

The love of building and riding seems to run in the family for Alvarez. He says his mechanic father taught him much of what he knows.

“Every time he worked on cars I would help him out.”

Albert is the president of the Fresno Bombs car club. He built his 1937 Plymouth in the video and that car is this week Ride Of the Week.

Make your way out to Fulton Avenue on a Sunday and you’ll probably see his Plymouth parked on the curb or taking a slow cruise down the street.
