FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – One person was shot early Saturday morning in southeast Fresno while they were on a porch drinking with friends, Fresno Police said.
Officers responded to the area of Tulare and Maple avenues around 1:40 a.m. after ShotSpotter reported that 12 rounds were fired in the area, police said. Emergency crews arrived and found the victim with a single gunshot wound to his right arm.
The victim was very intoxicated and uncooperative with officers, refusing to provide a name to officers initially. Witnesses at the residence were also intoxicated and uncooperative.
Officers were told that the small group of friends were on the front porch drinking alcohol when they suddenly heard shots being fired.
They immediately dropped to the ground.
Police said the victim, whom the witnesses said they did not know who he was, although he was hanging out with them drinking, told the group he was shot.
The victim and two other witnesses were walking to a car parked in a lot on the northeast corner of the intersection, were planning to take the victim to Community Regional Medical Center when officers arrived.
The investigation is ongoing.
