Pedestrian ran out in front of a driver in southeast Fresno and was killed, police say

A man was struck and killed by a driver in southeast Fresno Friday night, according to the Fresno Police Department.

The fatal collision happened around 8:30 p.m. near Clovis Avenue and Kings Canyon Road, according to Lt. Bill Dooley.

He says the driver was traveling northbound on Clovis Avenue when the victim ran out in front of the car, the driver attempted to swerve out of the way, but couldn’t stop in time, colliding into the man.

The victim died at the scene, Dooley says.

The driver, in his late teens, stayed at the scene. Dooley says he is not fault, and is “devastated.”
