CENTRAL VALLEY, California – Our website is launching a new segment strictly online called On the Trail.

Through these stories you’ll learn everything you need to know before hiking in the valley.

The Central Valley has so much to offer.

There are hundreds of trails, short and long.

The valley has lakes, streams and rivers, dirt paths and foresty hikes.

There are also beautiful sunsets and most importantly endless memories.

“I think its important that everyone goes out and explores what’s in our backyard, it gives us something to do its great for your cardio, its great for your muscles, its great for your mental health, its great for your social health as well, its something that the whole family can participate in,” said Lauren Wallace, host of On the Trail.

Lauren along with photographer Cody Kyle will venture out each week on a backpacking trip and you have the chance to explore with them on your phone, computer or with a vertual reality headset.

“So what’s really cool about this 360 VR that we have, it walks with us, I actually carry with me on the trail and you get to enjoy the trail as well. You get to go and spin the camera view 360 degrees as we are walking along, so you get to see the destination, the beginning and everything in between,” said Cody.

You can find the link to the videos HERE

We also have an interactive map and information about each hike, like their length, difficulty level, directions to it and the things you’ll need before heading out the door.

“I think the great thing about this segment is we are going to have trails for all different abilities, all different ages. We are going to have even people suggest hikes for us,” Lauren said.

“All you have to do is just look, set a day and get there and I promise that by being in that environment you are going to love it,” Cody added.
