FRESNO, California – Both remaining Marie Callender’s locations in Fresno have closed their doors, managers confirmed Monday.

The restaurants on Shaw and Cedar avenues and Blackstone and Nees avenues were closed for business Monday.

A third location in west Fresno previously closed and is now Black Bear Diner.

Managers tell us about 60 employees in all work at the two locations.

In a statement, the company said, in part, “Perkins & Marie Callender’s (together with certain affiliates and subsidiaries, collectively, the “Company”), today announced that it has executed an Asset Purchase Agreement with Perkins Group LLC for the sale of its Perkins’ business and a segment of its Foxtail bakery business. In order to facilitate the sale, the Company has voluntarily commenced Chapter 11 proceedings under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.”

The closures in Fresno were among 19 closures of “underperforming” Marie Callender’s locations, as well as 10 Perkins locations.
