Man jumps off pier, drowns in Merced County lake

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Sunday a man jumped into Lake Yosemite and drowned.

It happened in the afternoon, when deputies say the unidentified man jumped off the pier, tried to swim and ended up drowning.

By 7:30 p.m., his body was pulled from the lake.
