Macy’s at Fashion Fair Mall suffered a power outage Saturday around noon.

An external transmitter possibly short circuited near an electrical closet, sent smoke up to the smoke detectors and the alarm sounded, Robert Castillo with the Fresno Fire Department says.

That’s when the power was cut to the department store to prevent any further electrical issues.

The property owner will be required to solve the issue, as Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) determined it was at no fault of their own.

The men’s and children’s department at the mall is operating at normal business hours.

The women’s department could not be reached for comment.

As of Sunday at 4:30 p.m., mall guest services says the department store remains closed due to power issues.

It is unclear how long the store will be closed.
