The streets of Fresno’s Tower District are looking brighter after Wednesday.
The city of Fresno is trying something new – it’s called Tactical Urbanism.
The idea is to spruce up neighborhoods with pedestrian safety and beautification improvements all at a low cost.
A national tactical urbanism expert was in town to help train Fresno workers. The projects are perfect for space where there’s unused asphalt.
“It’s a neighborhood in Fresno where people walk more than other parts of town so doing improvements that make it better for walking, safer for walking, while adding some beautification,” says Dan Zack, city of Fresno assistant development director.
Low cost, high speed projects can be temporary, or more permanent, depending on the material.
