Fresno Unified opens pools for recreational swimming

Fresno Unified School District is opening high school pools to recreation swimming.

If you’re looking to beat the heat, here’s a list of pools that will be open to recreational swimming.

Edison High School

  • June 10 to June 14
    • Weekdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • June 17 to July 12
    • Weekdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Weekend: Noon to 5 p.m.
  • July 15 to Aug. 2
    • Weekdays Noon to 3 p.m.
    • Weekend Noon to 5 p.m.

Fresno High School

  • June 10 to June 16
    • Weekdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • June 17 to July 12
    • Weekdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Weekend: Noon to 5 p.m.
  • July 15 to Aug. 2
    • Weekdays Noon to 3 p.m.
    • Weekend Noon to 5 p.m.

Hoover High School

  • June 17 to July 12
    • Weekend: Noon to 5 p.m.
  • July 15 to July 26
    • Weekdays Noon to 2 p.m.
    • Weekend Noon to 5 p.m.
  • July 29 to Aug. 2
    • Weekdays Noon to 2 p.m 

Roosevelt High School

  • June 10 to July 12
    • Weekdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Weekend: Noon to 5 p.m.
  • July 15 to Aug. 2
    • Weekdays 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Weekend Noon to 5 p.m.

Sunnyside High School

  • June 10 to June 14
    • Weekdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • June 17 to July 12
    • Weekdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Weekend: Noon to 5 p.m.
  • July 15 to Aug. 2
    • Weekdays Noon to 3 p.m.
    • Weekend Noon to 5 p.m.

City of Fresno Pools are open mid-June through mid-August

The City of Fresno Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offers two types of pools for public use:

Standard Pools

Depth ranges from 4 to 10 ft. Participants must be a minimum of 3 years of age; at least 3 feet tall and potty trained. These pools are open daily during the summer for recreation swim. Cost: $1.00 17 and under, $2.00 for 18 and older. NO FLOTATION DEVICES, POOL TOYS and/or SWIM DIAPERS.

Frank H. Ball Pool:
760 Mayor St. (Ventura & A St)
Recreation swimming open to the public
Monday through Sunday
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bus Route: 32

Mary Ella Brown Pool:
1350 E. Annadale (Elm & Annadale)
Recreation swimming open to the public
Monday through Sunday
1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Bus Route: 32

Mosqueda Pool:
4670 E. Butler (Maple & Butler)
Recreation swimming open to the public
Monday through Sunday
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bus Route: 26 & 28

Learner Pools

Depth ranges from 2 ½ to 5 ft. and participants must be 5 years old, but not older than 12 years old, and at least 3 feet tall. The pools are open Monday through Sundayfrom 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. There is no cost for recreational swim at learner pools. NO FLOTATION DEVICES, POOL TOYS and/or SWIM DIAPERS.

Einstein Park – 3566 E. Dakota Ave. (On Dakota, between Millbrook & First)
Fink White Park – 535 S. Trinity (Hwy 180 & Trinity)
Pinedale Community Center – 7170 N. San Pablo (Herndon & San Pablo)
Quigley Neighborhood Park – 808 W. Dakota (Fruit & Dakota)
Romain Neighborhood Park – 745 N. First (First & Belmont)
