A dozen northeast Fresno drivers suspected to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol were arrested during a checkpoint by Fresno Police officers.
The checkpoint was from 6 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday, a department news release says.
Fresno police released the following statistics from the checkpoint:
103 vehicle enforcement stops
12 DUI-alcohol suspects arrested
18 drivers cited/arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked
62 citations issued
“High visibility enforcement efforts like this have a deterrent effect, lowering the incidents of impaired driving,” the news release says.
Adding, that drivers caught driving impaired and arrested for DUI can expect to pay approximately $13,500 in fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses, as well as possible jail time.
The Fresno Police Department will be conducting another DUI saturation patrol on Friday Nov. 30.
