Fresno man who witnessed a stabbing dies hours later after being struck by a car

Local News

FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was struck by a driver in central Fresno Friday night, according to Fresno Police.

Fresno Police confirmed Sunday that he died from his injuries that same night.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at Cedar and Shields avenues when a woman hit a man who allegedly ran in the road, says Fresno Police Lt. Tim Tietjen.

The driver of the car is a mother and her kids were in the backseat when the crash happened, Tietjen says. She and the kids are concerned for the man’s condition and are sending their prayers, he adds.

There’s no way she could have avoided hitting him, he says, as the victim walked directly in front of the car.

Police say he was a witness of a stabbing just a few hours earlier before being hit by the car.

She stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
