Fresno County tornado classified as ‘EF1,’ National Weather Service confirms

The National Weather Service confirms the Thursday afternoon tornado in Fresno County was in fact an EF1 tornado.

Friday morning, NWS officials surveyed the area where it touched down near Herndon and Academy avenues around 3:30 p.m.

According to Tornado Facts, EF1 tornadoes reach speeds of at least 86 mph.

In a video captured by a viewer, debris of a barn is seen flying in the middle of the tornado.
