Central Valley students hit the court Friday in the spirit of inclusion.
The second annual Special Olympics Basketball Tournament took place at Rio Vista Middle School, and students from four Fresno County schools took part.
Special needs students are paired up with a mentor student, and organizers say events like this allow every student to take part in activities.
“We have a best buddies program, and most of the schools do as well. So, general (education) students support the kids, by preparing for the skills, helping them play and be part of today,” says Laura Munnelly, vice principal at Rio Vista Middle School.
