FRESNO COUNTY, California – The resident of a Fresno County home estimates he lost at least $100K in items when his detached garage caught fire.

At around 6 p.m. in the 700 block of North DeWolf Avenue, Fresno Co. Fire Batallion Chief Jeremiah Wittwer says the family heard pops going off in their backyard while cooking, and that’s when the fire started.

The fire crews arrived and found the garage “well-involved” in flames. Before attempting to knock the fire down, they made sure all residents were evacuated from the home.

It’s unknown what caused the fire, but guns and ammunition were found inside the garage, which were causing the popping noises.

No injuries were reported.
