FRESNO COUNTY, California – A portion of Highway 168 on the way to Shaver Lake is closed as a fatal motorcycle crash is investigated Friday afternoon.

Just before 2 p.m., a 52-year-old man of Clovis died in the crash after California Highway Patrol spokesperson Mike Salas says he crossed over into eastbound traffic and collided into a big rig.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The driver of the big rig is “emotional,” Salas says, adding that officers are on scene helping the driver deal with the emotional impact of the crash.

Drivers are asked to use Auberry Road and Old Millerton Road as detours. Lodge Road to Tollhouse Road is another viable route.

The nearby roads are closed until about 5 p.m.
