The family of a Fresno man shot and killed in Parlier is pleading for the suspect to turn himself in. Felix Ybarra-Rodriguez was 23 years old before being murdered.

Family members say Ybarra-Rodriguez was just hanging out with friends in Parlier, never had any real enemies and was never involved in gang activity. Right now there isn’t a clear description of the suspect or his car.

It had been just hours since Luisa Ybarra said the words a mother never forgets to say to her child before she leaves.

“Said goodbye. I love you,” said Luisa Ybarra.

And the last time Ybarra would see her son alive.

“How could somebody just take somebody’s life just like that?,” asked Ybarra.

Just after midnight Monday, Fresno County deputies say 23-year-old Felix Ybarra-Rodriguez was standing outside with a friend at the Bella Vista Apartments in Parlier when a man in a dark-colored car got out as the three men exchanged words. Deputies say the suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire. One of the bullets struck Ybarra-Rodriguez and medics took him to CRMC where he died.

“Right now, what our detectives are doing is they’re trying to learn a little bit more about Rodriguez. Did he have any ongoing feuds? Was this something spontaneous that maybe just popped up, that somebody was after him?,” said Tony Botti with Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Ybarra-Rodriguez did not have any feuds, according to family. He had been working at the Ride and Shine Express on Bullard and Palm in Fresno full-time. He loved music and was the youngest of three.

“He’s a good kid. Good brother, always happy, always charming and always wanted to do good and work hard,” said Michael Blunt Jr.

Blunt says his little brother visited him at work often, a memory he will always keep, never expecting to plan his funeral. A family — still stunned, hoping justice will come and they have a message for the killer.

“You took a wonderful kid from me. My son, my baby. Two brothers — they don’t have a baby brother anymore. So please turn yourself in,” said Ybarra.

This is Parlier’s fourth homicide this year. If you’d like to help the family of Ybarra-Rodriguez, here is the link to his fundraiser:
