An elderly driver sustained major injuries after a head-on collision Saturday afternoon in Fresno County.
At around 1:35 p.m., an elderly, solo driver of a Honda Odyssey van was driving southbound on McCall Avenue, near Jensen Avenue, and a driver with 9 passengers in a Chevrolet Express van were traveling northbound, says California Highway Patrol spokesperson Vic Taylor.
The driver of the Honda was an elderly man who possibly had a medical emergency when he crossed over into the northbound lane and caused a head-on collision with the Chevrolet.
Taylor says the Chevrolet’s occupants sustained minor injuries, but the driver of the Honda has major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
The elderly driver suffered compound bone fractures, Taylor says, but the injuries are not life threatening.
