A recent study listed Fresno’s top “deadliest” cars, and the car in front of your home could likely be one of them.
Topping the list is a Honda Civic with the most frequent occupant fatalities. “Common trends among vehicles with the highest fatal accident rates include a lack of safety features and poor performance in crash tests,” according to the study released by iSeeCars.
Rounding out the five-car list is: 2. Toyota Corolla 3. Nissan Versa 4. Honda Accord 5. Hyundai Elantra.
The study notes SUVs have the lowest fatality rate.
In certain spots in the city of Fresno, those driving small cars, fatal crashes are likely to occur 2 to 4 times more often.
The study “analyzed fatality data of model year 2013-2017 cars from the U.S. Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and more than 25 million used cars from the same model years to determine the vehicles that are most often involved in fatal accidents. It found that there are 14 models that are at least two times as likely as the average vehicle to be involved in a fatal accident.”
