Deputies raided 169 illegal marijuana grows in Merced County during 2019 fed fiscal year

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — Deputies conducted 169 investigations into illegal marijuana grow operations during the 2019 federal fiscal year, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The Office’s Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET), led by Sgt. Ray Framstad, seized 57, firearms, eradicated 646,051 marijuana plants and recovered 9,408 pounds of finished, processed marijuana.

Deputies said SET continues to utilize both adaptive and technical enforcement solutions by collaborating with other local, state and federal partners.

The office reminded the public it is illegal to grow marijuana outdoors in Merced County. You may legally possess six marijuana plants per residence and may only grow indoors.
