The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office investigated what’s being called a hazmat situation on a school bus Wednesday afternoon.
An over the counter form of spray, unknown if pepper spray, was released inside a Dinuba Unified School District bus with more than 25 students, says Sgt. Hector Rodriguez with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
He says the bus driver pulled over to the side of the road near Avenue 384 and Road 96, and students were treated on the scene by emergency personnel. Three students were taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, Rodriguez says.
The bus driver is OK, and students were either released to school officials or their parents.
Rodriguez says the case is still under investigation, and the substance released will be analyzed.
