Crash involving spilled unknown liquid closes Highway 198 between Hanford and Visalia

KINGS COUNTY, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A stretch of Highway 198 between Hanford and Visalia was closed early Sunday morning after a solo traffic collision spilled an unknown liquid onto the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said.

The CHP received reports of a crashed vehicle on the highway’s center divider just east of 6th Avenue around 3 a.m. Emergency crews, including units from Kings County Fire, responded to the scene to clean the spill.

The CHP said the driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment.

Road crews were able to reopen Highway 198 around 7 a.m.
