Clovis Police warn of criminals targeting Black Friday shoppers

Fresno and Clovis police were out in full force this Black Friday making sure people felt safe while out shopping. 

Police departments usually will see a spike in vehicle thefts during the holiday season. 

Cars filled the parking lots at Sierra Vista Mall as many people shopped at their favorite spot. 

Clovis police searching for criminals looking to break into vehicles and steal expensive purchases. 

“We’re out looking for people who are out in the parking lot that are looking at other peoples cars,” Clovis Police Sergeant Jim Koch said. 

Police warning shoppers to not leave any valuables or expensive items out in the open. 

“We just want people to be diligent, to shop in pairs, go with someone, take a look around, be aware of your surroundings, be aware fo what’s going on around you,” Koch said. 

Some shoppers listening to the warnings. 

“We don’t typically want to leave them in the car for too if we got something from one store we just carry it to the next store instead of putting in the car,” Sydney Washburn said. 

Clovis and Fresno Police will be out patrolling shopping centers throughout the holiday season.
