FRESNO COUNTY, California (KSEE/KGPE) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Fresno County involving a bike riding tourist Thursday night.

It happened just after 6 p.m. in the area of Mountain View and McCall avenues.

CHP spokesperson Mike Salas says an Indian tourist was riding his bike legally westbound on Mountain View Avenue when he says an unlicensed driver, 19, struck the bicyclist.

“As a result of the impact, the bicyclist was ejected onto the roadway and sustained fatal injuries at the scene,” Salas says.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not a factor in the crash.

The driver of the sedan is identified as Savannah Gomez. She was booked into Fresno County Jail and is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving without a valid license.

The cyclist was later identified as Lal Singh, 52, from India, said Toni Botti, Fresno County Sheriff’s Spokesman.
