Cause of death released for man who died after participating in taco eating contest

FRESNO, California – The man who died at a taco eating competition on Tuesday choked to death, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

An autopsy was performed on 41-year-old Dana Hutchings, of Fresno. He died after participating in a taco eating contest at the Fresno Grizzlies game.

No other details were released.

The Taco Truck Throwdown scheduled this weekend at Chukchansi Park will go on, but the World Taco Eating Championship was canceled.
