FRESNO COUNTY, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A cyclist was struck and killed near Kerman Wednesday morning, the CHP said.

The collision was reported around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Siskiyou and Olive avenues, leaving debris on the roadway, Officer Anthony Daulton said.

Investigators determined that a Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on Siskiyou Avenue and was using the northbound side of the street to pass a slower-moving big rig, Daulton said. The cyclist was riding on the northbound lane of Siskiyou Avenue when he was struck by the pickup.

Emergency crews pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene. The CHP identified the victim as a 58-year-old man.

The victim’s name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The pickup driver stayed at the collision scene and cooperated with authorities.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office was at the scene around 8:15 a.m. to retrieve the victim.
