Two dead, identified after vehicle overturns in water at Bass Lake, CHP says

MADERA COUNTY, California (KSEE/KGPE) – Two people were killed after their car overturned in Bass Lake on Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The call came in around 7:30 a.m. when the 21-year-old driver, Samuel Rosasco of Oakhurst, was driving on Road 222, near Road 426, when he took a left curve, but his car went off the road.

He and his passenger, Karina Barnett, 17 of Ahwahnee, crashed into an embankment, then went across all lanes of Road 222.

Their car came to rest upside down in Bass Lake.

CHP says neither of them were wearing seat belts during the crash.
