Editor’s note: A previous version of this story said Clarence Kozlowski was 84 years old. He had his birthday in jail and was 85 when he died, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The 85-year-old Coalinga man who was accused of killing his wife in September died Sunday, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Clarence Kozlowski experienced chest pains on Oct. 9 and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.

He later died on Oct. 21.

A cause of death was pending test results, the Sheriff’s Office said, but there was nothing suspicious about the death.

On Sep. 14, just after 10:30 a.m., officers from the Coalinga Police Department responded to a home on the 300 block of Jefferson Street.

Officers entered the home and located Kozlowski and his 81-year-old wife Joyce Kozlowski.

She had a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Clarence Kozlowski was arrested on murder charges.
